Please note that OAC members 60 and over are given priority to sign up for events.
You must call or stop by the office to sign up for any events. Everyone is responsible for his/her own sign ups. You can not sign someone else up.
Office Closures
VISIONS will be closing at 1pm on Friday, Oct 11th and offering double meals as we will be closed on Monday, Oct 14th in observance of Columbus Day.
Staff Updates
We are delighted to announce the following exciting news:
Jose Gil's Promotion: Jose Gil has been promoted to the Older Adult Center Director of Social and Technology Services. In his new role, Jose will continue to be a valuable asset to our team, focusing on the technology needs of the Older Adult Center.
Welcoming Elizabeth Campanile: We are excited to announce that Elizabeth Campanile (Liz C) has joined our team as the Program and Community Engagement Coordinator. Liz C brings valuable experience to the role, having previously volunteered at the Older Adult Center through the DFTA Silver Corps Volunteer Program. In her new position, Liz C will focus on enhancing client engagement, recruitment, and overall center operations.
Please join us in congratulating Jose on his well-deserved promotion and welcoming Liz C to the team. We are confident that their combined expertise will continue to strengthen our services and positively impact our community.

Final Weeks of the Food Bag!
Sign up for the 3rd Annual Fresh Food for Seniors program
through Council Member Erik Bottcher and Manhattan Borough
President Mark Levine! Every two weeks at participating senior
centers, participants can order and pick-up their pre-packed
food bag for $10 per bag filled with fresh produce from regional farmers.
Dates for sign up and pick up are as follows:
Sign up and Payments are on Mondays and Tuesdays and pick ups are the following Tuesdays (must pick up the food bags before 4:00 PM).
October 7th and 8th - pick up October 15th
October 21st and 22nd - pick up October 29th

Tarot for Well Being with Diana

Parfait Perk Up

Join Kinshasa Coghill, CVRT/OMS for a rewarding afternoon pick me up featuring parfaits. This easy to replicate snack idea can be healthy or decadent and hold you over until the next meal. Volunteers from New York Cares will also be available to assist with building parfait perfections.
Breakfast Club

Join our monthly breakfast club with Brooklyn Lions Club. Enjoy some bagels, pastries, fruit and coffee/tea. This will be a special Breakfast Club with the Brooklyn Lions Club. Every participant who signs up for the breakfast club will also be receiving a food pantry bag with recipes. We will also celebrate October birthdays. Please reach out to Liz C. if you want a special treat for your birthday! Please note only participants who sign up can participate. All participants who sign up will receive a sticker during breakfast club. There are no exceptions. You must sign up in order to participate in the breakfast club. You must sign up on your own. You cannot sign up for others!

Avian’s Craft: Pumpkin Painting Workshop

Looking for a fun way to celebrate the fall season? Come join us for a Pumpkin Painting Workshop. Senior Council Monthly Meetings
Please consider joining one of our Senior Council committees, we have the Fundraising committee, Food committee, and the Programming committee. Please join the council and ensure your voice is heard. Please feel free to reach out to Senior Council Secretary Valerie Buckner or Senior Council President Yvonne Whitehurst for more information. Senior Council meetings are held monthly.
Event Signups
Please note that OAC members 60 and over are given priority to sign up for events. Please note that events are space limited and often supplies are purchased based on RSVP numbers. If you sign up for an event, but need to cancel for any reason, please call the office (immediately/as soon as possible). We can open the waiting list or avoid excess purchases when you keep us informed.
Bar Codes
As a reminder, please bring your DFTA bar code down for meals for us to scan you in. No one will be denied a meal if you don't have one or if you forget. Please reach out to Diana or Elizabeth for a bar code. Please note that in the event you lose your barcode fob you will be issued a complementary replacement. Should you lose the replacement barcode fob we will charge $5 to replace it. Please ensure to keep your barcode fobs in a safe place.
CONSENT FORMS
The Department for Aging is requiring all senior center members to complete and sign off on consent forms in order to participate in the program. If you can fill out the top portion that includes your Last Name, First Name, Address and phone number and then sign on the bottom and return to the office that would be great. It can be emailed or mailed back to us as well if that is easier. If you need help please reach out to us and we can fill them out for you. If you already filled it out you do not need to fill it out again. You only have to do this one time. Please reach out if you have any questions.
