The Food Bag Program is Back!  $10 Per Bag Filled with fresh produce

Sign up for the 3rd Annual Fresh Food for Seniors program

through Council Member Erik Bottcher and Manhattan Borough

President Mark Levine! Every two weeks at participating senior

centers, participants can order and pick-up their pre-packed

Food bag for $10 per bag filled with fresh produce from regional farmers.


Dates for sign up and pick up are as follows:

Sign up and Payments are on Mondays and Tuesdays and pick ups are the following Tuesdays (must pick up the food bags before 4pm).

Alexa Class 

Become more connected with the world around you by signing up for an opportunity to receive an Echo Dot and learn how to use Alexa! Join Jose in Conference Room A starting on Wednesday July 17th 3 PM - 3:45 PM and experience the ease of using a virtual assistant. Must be over 60 years of age. Only 7 spots available.  You will be able to keep the dot if you attend all the sessions.

Crafting with Diana/ Soap Making

Friday, July 5th  10:30-11:30

Auditorium

Facilitator: Diana Cruz

Enjoy a fun filled workshop where we create our own custom soaps in time for the summer. The theme will be citrus and lavender. This class is open to anyone that has not already participated in a soap making workshop. Class will be limited to 5 participants who are 60 and over. 



Independence Day Theme Party 

July 9th 10:30am-12pm

Join NY Cares as they host a July 4th theme party. Come dressed in red, white and blue and ready to celebrate! We will have games, crafts, food and drinks. 



Friends and Family Day

Thursday, July 11th 10am-3pm 

It’s that time of the year!!!!!  Show your VISIONS pride and strut our new VISIONS t-shirts.  Don't have a new one???  Wear an old one!!!!

Come join Ann for an interactive Stress Management Workshop from 10am to 11:30am

We will be serving a delicious BBQ Special Lunch Meal

Learn different tie-dye techniques for stunning results.Take home your personalized backpack and bandana to rock your style. All supplies included: backpacks, bandanas, dyes, rubber bands, gloves, and more!  Limited to OAC members 60 and over. Only 7 spots available.

Ice Cream Social
  Monday, July 29th 1:30-2:30 PM

It’s hot there so come and sign up for our summer monthly ice cream social.

Food Pantry

Wednesdays between 11:00 AM and 2:00PM.   

Participants must register for the pantry and there is a twice a month limit. All registered participants are welcome to pick up a pre-packed bag.

Please feel free to call the office to make appointments for any of the following services: faxing documents, making copies, application assistance, benefits assistance like HEAP, Medicaid, Medicare, Homecare services, recertification's, assistance filling out forms


    Senior Council Monthly Meetings

    Please consider joining one of our Senior Council committees, we have the Fundraising committee, Food           committee, and the Programming committee. Please join the council and ensure your voice is heard. Please      feel free to reach out to Senior Council Secretary Valerie Buckner or Senior Council President Yvonne                Whitehurst for more information. Senior Council meetings are held monthly.


   Event Signups

    Please note that OAC members 60 and over are given priority to sign up for events. Please note that               events are space limited and often supplies are purchased based on RSVP numbers. If you sign up for an      event, but need to cancel for any reason, please call the office (immediately/as soon as possible). We can       open the waiting list or avoid excess purchases when you keep us informed.


Bar Codes

As a reminder, please bring your DFTA bar code down for meals for us to scan you in.  No one will be denied a meal if you don't have one or if you forget.  Please reach out to Diana or Elizabeth for a bar code.  Please note that in the event you lose your barcode fob you will be issued a complementary replacement. Should you lose the replacement barcode fob we will charge $5 to replace it. Please ensure to keep your barcode fobs in a safe place. 


CONSENT FORMS

The Department for Aging is requiring all senior center members to complete and sign off on consent forms in order to participate in the program.  If you can fill out the top portion that includes your Last Name, First Name, Address and phone number and then sign on the bottom and return to the office that would be great. It can be emailed or mailed back to us as well if that is easier. If you need help please reach out to us and we can fill them out for you.  If you already filled it out you do not need to fill it out again. You only have to do this one time. Please reach out if you have any questions.


Voter Registration Forms

If you are interested and would like to register to vote please reach out to the center for assistance. If you need to update any voter information, staff can help as well.

Sign up in the office if you need assistance to apply for a money identifier.
